By default, the site administrator receives email notifications for activity across all portals. You can change this globally or on a per-portal basis to route notifications exclusively to assigned project managers.
Global Setting #
To control whether the admin receives portal notifications site-wide:
- Go to Settings → ClientPress → Access & Login
- Find Admin Notifications
- Toggle Admin receives portal notifications on or off
- Save settings
When enabled (default): The admin receives notifications for all portals, in addition to any assigned project managers.
When disabled: Only assigned project managers receive notifications. The admin is excluded — unless no project managers are assigned to a portal, in which case the admin still receives notifications for that portal as a failsafe.
Per-Portal Override #
You can disable admin notifications for a specific portal without changing the global setting. This is useful when a project manager is fully responsible for a client and the admin doesn’t need to be copied.
- Open the portal in your WordPress admin
- In the portal editor sidebar, find the Notifications or Settings section
- Enable Disable admin notifications for this portal
- Save the portal
With this enabled, the admin will not receive notifications for that portal even if the global setting is on.
The Failsafe Rule #
Regardless of how the global or per-portal settings are configured, the admin always receives notifications for any portal that has no project managers assigned. This prevents notifications from disappearing into a void when no one else is set up to receive them.
To fully remove admin from notifications on a portal, assign at least one project manager to it and enable the per-portal override.
Recommended Setup #
- Solo agency, you manage all portals — Leave admin notifications enabled globally
- Team agency, PMs own their portals — Disable admin notifications globally, assign PMs to all portals
- Mixed: some portals self-managed, some PM-managed — Enable globally, use per-portal override on PM-managed portals
