Frequently Asked Questions

Pre Purchase

  • Will it work with my hosting provider?

ClientPress works on any standard WordPress hosting environment. That said, shared hosting plans have resource limitations — memory limits, concurrent connection caps, and file storage restrictions — that can affect performance as your portal count and file storage grow. Most notabily, the number of concurrent users (logged in users on the website at the same time) is something to monitor as you grow.

For most users we recommend a managed WordPress host. We’ve tested and recommend:

    • Rocket.net (top pick)
    • Pressable (top pick)
    • Kinsta
    • WP Engine
    • Flywheel
    • SiteGround (managed WordPress or VPS tiers)

For high-traffic sites with many concurrent logged-in users, we recommend a VPS environment through Gridpane, Cloudways, or Xcloud.

  • What are the minimum requirements?

    • WordPress 6.5 or higher
    • PHP 7.4 or higher
    • A standard single-site WordPress installation (Multisite is not supported)
  • Does it work with page builders?

The client portal frontend is managed by ClientPress, not your page builder, so page builder compatibility isn’t a concern for the portal itself. The portal overview tab uses the standard WordPress block editor. If you’re using Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, Bricks, or Kadence Blocks on the rest of your site, ClientPress runs alongside them without conflict.

  • Does ClientPress work with my theme?

Yes. ClientPress is theme-agnostic — it renders the client portal independently of your active WordPress theme. The portal has its own frontend layout that you customize through the plugin settings, not through your theme. It works with Kadence, Astra, GeneratePress, Divi, Elementor Hello, Blocksy, and any other WordPress theme.

  • Does ClientPress support WordPress Multisite?

No. ClientPress is not compatible with WordPress Multisite installations and cannot be activated on them. Each site license covers a single standard WordPress installation. If you need to run ClientPress across multiple sites, purchase the number of licenses that matches your site count.

Post Purchase

  • Will you set it up for me?

We don’t currently offer a done-for-you service, but we can put you in contact with a list of agencies that would be able to help you setup ClientPress on your website. If this is you, please contact us.

  • What if I need a feature that doesn’t exist yet?

We actively develop ClientPress and release updates regularly. Feature requests are welcome — email us or use the contact form. We can’t commit to timelines for specific features, but we read every request and they directly influence the roadmap.

  • What kind of support do you offer?

Email support is included with every active license. Reach us at support@clientpress.io. We aim to respond within 2 business days. Support covers installation, configuration, and bug reports. It does not cover custom development, theme conflicts caused by third-party code, or feature requests.

  • Is there documentation?

Yes. Full documentation is available at clientpress.io/docs, covering installation, every feature, automation and webhook setup, and common troubleshooting scenarios.

  • Do I need a devloper ot set it up?

No. ClientPress is configured entirely through the WordPress admin. No code required. If you can install a WordPress plugin and write a page in the block editor, you have everything you need to get started.

  • What happens after I buy the plugin?

You’ll receive a confirmation email with your order information. Your license key and a download link for the plugin zip file are always available in your account dashboard on Clientpress.io. Install it like any WordPress plugin — upload the zip through Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, activate it, and enter your license key when prompted. Most users have their first portal set up within 30 minutes.

Client Experience

  • Can a client access more than one portal?

Yes. If a client is assigned to multiple portals — multiple projects, multiple engagements — they land on a portal listing page after login and choose which portal to open. Each portal remains completely separate.

  • Do clients need to be tech-savvy?

No. The client interface is intentionally simple — clients see their project and nothing else. Most clients navigate it without any guidance. The magic login link feature means clients can go directly from a notification email into their portal without even entering a password.

  • Can clients use it on mobile?

Yes. The client portal is responsive and works on mobile browsers. Clients don’t need to install an app — they access their portal through any modern browser on any device.

  • Do my clients need to pay for anything?

No. ClientPress is a tool you purchase for your business. Your clients access their portals for free — there are no client-facing fees, subscriptions, or accounts to create beyond the portal login you set up for them.

  • What do my clients see when they log in?

Clients land directly in their portal — they never see the WordPress admin, the dashboard, or anything else on your site. The portal shows exactly what you’ve set up for them: tasks, files, deliverables, messages, guides, and tools. Everything is scoped to their portal and nothing else is visible.

Licensing and Renewals

  • What is your refund policy?

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on first-time purchases. If ClientPress isn’t the right fit, email us at support@clientpress.io within 14 days of your purchase date with your order number for a full refund. Renewals are not eligible for refunds.

  • Is there a lifetime license option?

Not currently. ClientPress is sold as an annual license.

  • Do you offer discounts for nonprofits or educational institutions?

No. Every customer pays the same published price regardless of organization type.

  • What happens when my license expires?

The plugin keeps working — your portals, clients, and data are unaffected. You lose access to plugin updates and email support until you renew. We recommend staying current on updates for security and compatibility with new WordPress versions.

  • Can I upgrade my plan later?

Yes. Contact us at support@clientpress.io and we’ll apply a prorated credit for the remaining term on your current plan toward the upgrade.

  • What counts as a site license?

One site license covers one WordPress installation. Staging and local development environments each count as a separate installation toward your license limit. Factor that in when choosing your plan.
