The Discussion tab is a private, one-on-one messaging thread between your team and the client. It lives inside the portal and is only visible to people with access to that portal.
How It Works #
Messages are sent and received in a simple chat-style interface. Your team and the client can write messages back and forth, and both sides see the full conversation history.
- Admins and project managers can send and read messages
- Clients and sub-clients assigned to the portal can send and read messages
- No one outside the portal can see the conversation
Sending a Message #
- Open the portal and click the Discussion tab.
- Type your message in the text field at the bottom.
- Press Enter or click Send.
The message appears immediately in the thread.
Loading Older Messages #
The Discussion tab loads the 20 most recent messages when you open it. To see older messages, click Load older messages at the top of the thread. Each click loads the previous 20 messages.
Searching Messages #
A search button at the top of the Discussion tab lets you search the conversation. Matching messages are highlighted inline. The search scans up to 200 messages.
Unread Indicators #
When a new message is sent, the other party’s unread count increases. The Discussion tab shows an unread badge until the messages are viewed. Once you open the tab, all messages are marked as read automatically.
Enabling or Disabling Discussion #
The Discussion tab can be turned off globally under Settings → ClientPress → Features. When disabled, the tab is hidden from all portals and clients cannot send messages.
